The steel industry needed a reliable and advanced device to measure the temperature of the molten steel in the furnace, so we designed a thermocouple-based temperature meter using an Arduino Mega, a microcontroller board from Arduino. In the age of industry 4.0, industries are turning to modern solutions to work more efficiently and invest their time and money in advanced technologies.
The meter transfers the reading to the external unit, which may simultaneously display it on a TFT display and log it on a memory card. The external device also has a large 7-segment display, warning lights, and a loudspeaker to alert the staff.
With the much-needed accuracy and useful data logs, the device is installed on a number of steel melting furnaces, increasing operational effectiveness.
